Tassmina Ahmed Sheik, National Women’s Officer of the Scottish National Party (SNP), gave a speech on the conference on “Voices for another Europe” organised by the Fundacion Galiza Sempre and the Centre Maurits Coppieters. There, she discussed the specificity of the Scottish self-determination referendum. She also made a plea to vote in favor of independence:
“It is a wonderful opportunity for our country and I hope […] that people will vote Yes for a more fair, more prosperous and more democratic country” adding later “So I hope after the 18th of September when we count those votes you will celebrate with us as Scotland gains our independence”
