The Ålands Framtid, in collaboration with the European Free Alliance and the Centre Maurits Coppieters, organizes an International Seminar in Mariehamn with the title “European Autonomies towards Independence.
In the event will be debated the successful steps in autonomy development, along with an analysis of the efficient methods in the past and possible ways towards full sovereignty. The discussion will be moderated by Agneta Karlsson (PhD in Economics); the panel of the speakers will include Günther Dauwen, director of EFA and CMC, Alan Sandry, member of the CMC Board and Professor at the Swansea University, Högni Hoydal, Membere of the Faroe Parliament, Elisabet Nebreda, Secretary for International Policy for Esquerra Republicana Catalunya and Bjarne Lindström, Director at the Statistics and Research Bureau of Åland.
This event would represent a good chance to take stock of the European situation: Scotland’s recent referendum and the forthcoming Catalan consultation, the Wales and Flanders along with a point of view on the situation in the Ålands and in the Faroe Islands where the issues of autonomy and Independence represent a central matter of debate in the political field.
