Centre Maurits Coppieters and Kurdish Institute of Brussels present “In het voetspoor van Maurits Coppieters”

The Kurdish Institute of Brussels and the Centre Maurits Coppieters launched their most recent publication “In het voetspoor van Maurits Coppieters” (“Following Maurits Coppieters’ footsteps” in English) at the Flemish Parliament (7 March 2014).

The text by Karel Van Reeth gives his own first-hand personal summary of 35 years of efforts by Maurtis Coppieters and other Flemish politicians like Bart Staes, Nelly Maes, Willy Kuijpers and Jaak Vandemeulebrouke to support the Kurdish struggle both at the National, Federal and European Parliaments.

Three key speakers took the floor during the event: Derwish Ferho, from the Kurdish Institute of Brussels, Karel Van Reeth, author of the publication, and Bart Staes. They selected and commented on the more significant book chapters while reviewing the milestones of the Kurdish movement in Brussels. A history of how they made their voice their voice heard in the European Institutions.
