Antonia Luciani President of Coppieters Foundation addresses ECOSOC NGO Committee to defend its candidacy to obtain the observer status

President Antonia Luciani addressed the representatives of the Member States to defend Coppieters Foundation’s candidacy to be recognized as a consultative entity of this organization.

Coppieters Foundation submitted an application for observer status with the ECOSOC Committee in 2018. Four years after the submission, in 2023, a delegation from the Coppieters Foundation attended an ECOSOC NGO Committee meeting for the first time to make a proper assessment of their application. This year, President Antonia Luciani addressed the Committee again to emphasize the Foundation’s enthusiasm for joining ECOSOC and to advance the Foundation’s efforts to be approved by the Committee Members.

During the session of the ECOSOC NGO Committee that took place on May 23 at the United Nations headquarters in New York, she stressed the Coppieters Foundation’s commitment to the values represented by the UN and reiterated the Foundation’s interest in joining ECOSOC.

In her intervention, President Antonia Luciani highlighted the Coppieters Foundation’s contributions to addressing pressing global issues through numerous projects promoting linguistic and cultural diversity, sustainable development, and education, as well as advancing the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda.

President Antonia Luciani also mentioned the Coppieters Foundation’s commitment to transparency, pointing out the Foundation’s open and democratic internal structure and the detailed application clarifying aspects related to the organization.

The address was followed by questions from the representatives of Member States, which were welcomed and answered by the President, leading to the conclusion of the Coppieters Foundation’s intervention in the 20th meeting of the ECOSOC NGO Committee.
