In November 2024, the Coppieters Foundation took part at a UN-led forum at the Palais des Nations in Geneva, where it presented innovative policy solutions to promote cultural and linguistic diversity.
Coppieters addressed the critical challenges facing minoritized languages, particularly in Media and Digital media: Languages are not just tools for communication; they are carriers of identity, culture, and history. Their absence in Media and Digital Media undermines cultural pluralism and increases social inequities. Globalization, while offering potential for increased interconnectivity, has also contributed to sidelining linguistic diversity through market-driven and algorithmic biases.
This paper presents the full extent of those policy reccomendations.
