The first of the Voices From the Periphery: Global dialogues on peace, democracy and diversity debate of the season is devoted to discuss about potential alternatives to the patriarchal, neoliberal and national hegemonic discourse starting from emancipation processes.
Our keynote speaker, Jule Goikoetxea, is a Basque political philosopher, writer and feminist activist. She is a professor in the Political Science Department of the University of the Basque Country.
She has published scientific articles in journals such as Taylor and Francis, Routledge and Springer, and in periodicals such as Regional and Federal Studies, Ethnopolitics, Nationalities Paper and the Cambridge University Journal of Politics.
In addition to her academic activity, she is known for her feminist, pro-independence and anti-capitalist activism.
She is editor of the collection LISIPE de Pensamiento Feminista. After Angela Davis’ visit to Spain, she collaborated in Danele Sarriugarte’s edition and translation of her work into Basque in Emakumeak, arraza eta klasea. (Women, race and class).
