Rights and Sovereignty in Contemporary Europe

Events / Sat 20 Jul 2019 09:30

Is it still possible to speak of national sovereignty in Europe?

Under which conditions, limits and possibilities can this principle be affirmed, in a context where it is seen both as fundamental to democracy but also as containing elements of ambiguity and contradiction, making it a controversial concept?

Would it be possible to build a political Europe by rethinking the idea of national sovereignty, putting peoples at the center rather than States?

These questions will be tackled on Saturday 20 July 2019 in Sassari, by a panel of experts, both academics and practitioners, convened by the Camillo Bellieni Institute and the Coppieters Foundation, and who will provide the audience with their knowledge and thoughts on these issues.
