The fifth edition of the Network to Promote Linguistic Diversity (NPLD) – Coppieters Campus will be held in Barcelona on 13, 14 & 15 November 2024.
This year’s event will be focused on the challenges and opportunities presented by Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence for Languages.
As in all the previous editions, the event will include thought-provoking interventions by experts in the field, as well as cultural visits.
This year’s participants will enjoy a special musical performance in Aranese and Catalan by the Aranese singer-songwriter Alidé Sans. A guided tour through the Ciutat Vella area of Barcelona and a cultural tour of the monastery of Montserrat’s landscape and heritage, with a guided tour of the most emblematic areas.
At the welcoming reception, the Aranese singer-songwriter Alidé Sans will perform songs in Aranese and Catalan. Alidé is one of the most outstanding voices in Occitan music, with a career marked by warm rhythms and a strong message of rurality and female empowerment. With three albums released, she stands out for defending Occitan culture and her social struggle.
Route through the Ciutat Vella area of Barcelona to follow the history of the Catalan language from its most remote origins (including pre-Roman times) to the present day through a guided visit to places of historical and heritage interest. The route will last approximately an hour and a half.
Cultural tour of the monastery of Montserrat’s landscape and heritage, with a guided tour of the most emblematic areas, such as the Path of the Beheaded (Camí del Degollat), the Throne of the Moreneta, and the Museum of Montserrat, among others.
