The Covid-19 pandemic has made the importance of efficient public health systems clearer than ever. However, it has also revealed a lack of strength in most European public health systems, which were unable to provide a rapid and efficient response to an emergency. We need solid and properly structured public health systems now.
With this event, Ezkerraberri Fundazioa, ehuGune and the Coppieters Foundation outlined the main challenges and priorities for public healthcare systems in Europe. We analysed the shortcomings and strengths of our systems, through the lens of the SARS-CoV-2 crisis and discussed the lessons we have learnt for the future? We also looked at new trends and best practices in terms of governance and public health systems. To do so, we brought together scholars, practitioners and decision-makers for a joint reflection on the future of our health policies.
