This conference aims to steer up the debate around the joint publication of Fundació Josep Irla and Centre Maurits Coppieters on Internationalism versus Globalism: a report that analyses the current geo-strategic evolution of today’s world form a political theory, economy and anthropology outlook.

Authors of the report, journalists and other guest analyst will put the focus on diversity as an element of social cohesion and growth of both local and international economy in the framework of a growingly integrated world.

Keynote Speakers and schedule:

16:00 – Welcome word 

  • Xabier Macías. President of Centre Maurits Coppieters.
  • Josep Vall. Director of Fundació Josep Irla.

16:15 – The case for “Internationalism versus Globalism”

  • Josep Bargalló. Lecturer at the Rovira i Virgili University. Prime minister of the Catalan Government from 2004-2006.
  • Santiago Castellà. Lecturer in International Relations and Law at the Rovira i Virgili University. Former coordinator of the External Service Office of the Catalan Government for the period 2010-2015.
  • Anton Lladó. Economist. Former Director of the Catalan Institute for Cultural Industries.
  • Elizabeth Russell. Lecturer at the English and German Studies Department in the Rovira i Virgili University. Author of Trans/Forming Utopia.

17:45 – Roundtable “Multilateral culture as an element of social cohesion and economic growth”

  • Chaired by: Àlex Gutiérrez, Director of the ARA journal Media Department. President of Fundació Escacc.
  • Josep Huget, President of Josep Irla Foundation.
  • Ana Miranda, Member of the European Parliament (MEP) for the Bloque Nacionalista Galego (BNG) 2012-2013
  • Miguel Martínez Tomey. Vice-President of the European Free Alliance and Responsible for European affairs of Chunta Aragonesista
