Daniel Turp, International and constitutional law professor at the University of Montreal and member of the Quebec National Assembly for the Parti Québécois (2003 to 2008), is a new member of the Scientific board of the Centre Maurits Coppieters and will be the keynote speaker at the CMC dinner-debate.
He discussed on prospects for the right to self determination in the 21st century. Special attention was given to (1) those nations having engaged in independence referendums and (2) applicable international law in the event of the creation of a new state.
