Conversations on Digital Rights

Challenges of access and use of digital media in Europe

Events / Wed 23 Jun 2021 10:00

During summer 2021, we released a series of conversations held with experts on digital rights, about the current state of play in Europe when it comes to the human and legal rights allowing people to access and use digital media.

Episode 3 with Professor Alan Dix - Swansea University's Computational Foundry
Episode 2 with Sarah Chander - European Digital Rights
Episode 1 with Simona Levi - Xnet and University of Barcelona

What are the main challenges facing Europeans, and Europeans belonging to minorities in particular, in accessing and safely using the internet? How is the right to privacy being affected by the current pandemic? What is the state of play regarding digitisation and the digital economy in Europe?

These questions and more will be tackled in exchanges between specialists and the Coppieters Foundation, with the participation of the European Free Alliance and the European Free Alliance youth.

We look forward to inspiring conversations with:

  • Professor Alan Dix, Director of Computational Foundry, Computer Science at Swansea University
  • Simona Levi, Digital Rights Activist and Director of Postgraduate Studies at the University of Barcelona on Technopolitics and Rights in the Digital Age
  • Sarah Chander, Senior Policy Advisor at European Digital Rights
