A European Basic Income

31 May 2023, 18:30 - 20:00, Bofill Foundation Social Hub, Barcelona

Events / Wed 31 May 2023 18:30

Since the emergence of capitalism,  the democratic left has been advocating for the redistribution of wealth in order to end economic dependence, which places the majority of people under the domination of the great economic powers. A basic income can be the next great conquest in this fight for freedom. Given the fact that in this era of globalization, the redistribution of wealth will be international or won’t be at all, Coppieters Foundation and Fundació Irla have studied how a basic income could be financed on a European scale.

On the 31st of May, we will present the conclusions of the study “A European basic income” drafted by Jordi Arcarons, Daniel Raventós, and Lluís Torrens, and afterwards there will be a roundtable with experts in the field.

The event will  also be broadcasted online through the YouTube channel of the Irla Foundation.
